About Our Name:
Why the name Perfecting Praise? We are glad you asked. The Scripture reference is found in Matthew 21 which begins with Jesus entering the city of Jerusalem. And as he enters the city, the children lay down there garments and place tree branches in his path and begin to cry, “Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest”. And here at Perfecting Praise, we believe that worship of our Lord and Savior should reflect this same level of adoration, love and reverence for God.
Praise is a means of celebrating and honoring the goodness and the greatness of God. It is us telling the story of just how good God is and has been in our lives. We sing about it, we testify of it and we live a life style that mirrors it. We also recognize that there is strength in praise and that praise is a powerful weapon in spiritual warfare.
Perfect in the Scripture means thoroughly complete; nothing lacking and nothing missing. Here at Perfecting Praise we believe that God wants you whole and healed in every area of your life (3 John 1:2). And we are committed to God and the scriptures to that end.
Our Statement of Faith
Scripture:
We believe that the Bible is the inspired and infallible word of God according to 2 Tim 3:16-17. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” Additional scriptures are 1 Thessalonians 2:13 and 2 Peter 1:20-12
One God, three persons:
We believe that there is one God. He is infinite, eternal and unchangeable in His being, power, wisdom, goodness, holiness, justice and truth. And we believe that God exists in 3 persons – God the Father (Phil 1:2), God the Son (Jesus Christ – Titus 2:13) and God the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:3-4).
God the Father:
We believe that God the Father is the creator of all things and upon acceptance of Christ as Lord and Savior, we have restored relationship with God whereby we cry, Abba, Father. (James 1:17-18, Rom. 8:15)
God the Son (Jesus Christ):
We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. That he was born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilot was crucified, dead and buried. On the third day, he rose from the dead and had victory over the grave, death and hell. He is seated on the right hand of the Father and is the only way that man can be saved. (Matt 16:16-17, Mark 14:61-62, John 1:1,14 Acts 4:12)
God the Holy Spirit:
We believe that Holy Spirit enables men to receive salvation through Christ by His effectual calling. We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who can speak and can be grieved. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit whereby He regenerates and sanctifies the believer and indwells in them. When the Holy Spirit is in a person’s life He will imparts new life, enables believers to live a lifestyle of holiness and gives spiritual gifts to those who do the will of the Father. (Acts 2:4, Eph. 4:30, John 16:7-8, Gal 5:16-17).
